Happy Beanie

Happy Beanie is a perfect scrap yarn project. You can choose any color combo that you like and play with your left-over yarns. Use DK-weight yarn or fingering weight held double.

A: 20.5"/ 52 cm

Gauge:
20 sts & 24 rows = 4 x 4" / 10 x 10 cm in colorwork pattern with larger (US 6 / 4 mm) needles.

Materials:
Yarn:

For this sample DK-weight scrap yarns were used: 
Light Grey (brim and crown): Aara Aatos DK (75% merino, 25% nylon, 246 yds / 225 m / 100 g / 3.5 oz), color Silver, used 75 g.
Green: Eden Cottage Yarns Oakworth DK (100 % NZ Polwarth wool), 245 yds / 225 m / 100 g / 3.5 oz, colorway Hazel, used approx. 13 g
Dark Grey: Aara Yarn Maja (100 % Finnish Wool, 100 g / 3.5 oz / 241 yds / 220 m / skein). Color Jalo, used 13 g
Pink: Knitlobs Lair sw merino (100 % superwash merino, 100g / 333 yds / 300 m), color Pop Rocks, used 16 g. Yarn discontinued.
You need 4 colors of DK weight yarn; approx. 13 g each for colorwork and approx. 60 g for brim and crown. A tip: you can also use fingering weight held double to get a sport/dk weight gauge.

Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) for ribbing
US 6 (4 mm) for hat body
Adjust the needle size to get the correct gauge.
