Softly Together Shawl

This pattern was originally a mystery knit-along that I organized during May and June 2020. The pattern is now published as a complete one pattern document.

This Shawl uses different techniques, something worked with a simple lace pattern, a little bit of garter stitch and some stockinette stitch and short rows, too. The shaping is interesting, as you will find out while working the shawl. You will probably learn a few simple techniques, too. Yarn & yardage:
Any fingering weight (or lace for color A) yarn is okay, you need three colors:
Color A: Approx. 300 yds/275m
Color B: Approx. 260 yds/240 m
Color C: Approx. 260 yds/240 m

You need three (3) colors of fingering/lace weight yarn, see the details below. Choose colors that have contrast but still match together. Choose whatever combination looks good when you pile the skeins.

A (Approx. 300 yds/275m): If you want to use a mohair-silk blend, use it as yarn A. This can also be a fingering weight yarn, if you don’t want to use silk-mohair. I recommend a solid colored yarn. Choose a color that you love in large areas and that you can use for a lace stitch pattern. This color dances with your yarns B & C, also, so take care that it pops out from your B and C colors.

I used Wool Me Once Fibers Kid Mohair Silk 72% kid mohair, 28% silk (50g=420m=459yds)

B (Approx. 260 yds/240 m): Choose a color that has enough contrast from the color A. Use a fingering weight, solid color yarn with softly speckled variations.

I used Wool Me Once Fibers Merino Single 100% superwash merino (100g=366m=400yds)

C (Approx. 260 yds/240 m): Choose a color that has enough contrast from the color A. Use a fingering weight yarn. This yarn can be variegated, speckled and a very colorful in contrast to the solid colored A.

Needles & Gauge:

US 4 (3,5 mm) long circular needle.

22 sts/30 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Stockinette st.
Gauge is measured after blocking. The exact gauge is not important in this pattern, however a different gauge will affect your yardage! This shawl was knitted with the exact yarn amounts given in the pattern. Prepare with enough yarn for gauge and yardage variations.

Langan valinta:

Tarvitset kolme (3) väriä fingering painoista lankaa. Valitse värit, joissa on kontrastia, mutta jotka silti sopivat keskenään. Valitse mikä tahansa yhdistelmä, joka näyttää hyvältä, kun pinoat vyyhdit.

Väri A (Noin 275m): Jos haluat käyttää lace-vahvuista silkki-mohairia, valitse se langaksi A. Tämä voi olla myös fingering paksuinen merino, jos et halua käyttää silkki-mohairia. Valitse mieluummin väri, jossa ei ole paljon värinvaihtelua vaan se olisi yksivärisempi. Valitse väri, josta pidät isompina alueina ja jota haluat käyttää pitsineuleessa. Tämä lanka tanssii kahden muun langan kanssa, joten huolehdi, että se erottuu langoista B ja C.

Suosittelen: Wool Me Once Fibers Kid Mohair Silk 72% kid mohair, 28% silk (50g=420m)

B (Noin 240 m) & C (Noin 240 m): Valitse väri, jossa on riittävästi kontrastia väriin A. Käytä fingering-paksuista lankaa, joko yksiväristä tai värinvaihteluita sisältävää (speckled/variegated). Lanka C voi olla vaihtelevamman värinen, jos lanka B on yksivärisempi.

Puikot ja neuletiheys:

3,5 mm pitkä pyöröpuikko.

22 s/30 krs = 10 cm sileää/ainaoikein neuletta.
Mitattu kastellusta ja pingotetusta neuleesta. Tarkka neuletiheys ei ole olennaista tässä mallissa, mutta vaikuttaa langanmenekkiin! Tämä huivi on neulottu tarkalleen yllä annetuilla lankamäärillä. Varaudu riittävällä määrällä lankaa, käsiala ja eri lanka voi muuttaa menekkiä.
