Cáirde Hat

Cáirde, meaning friendship, evokes a sense of safety and closeness. I chose this Irish Celtic word to name this hat as a tribute to the beauty of friendship. The hat features a beautiful basket weave pattern framed by slip sts and two Celtic plaits.

GAUGE:
18 sts 26 rows = 4 x 4" / 10 x 10 cm in Stockinette stitch with larger US 8 (5 mm) needles gently wet-blocked.
25 sts 26 rows = 4 x 4" / 10 x 10 cm in Chart A cable pattern

YARN:
La Bien Aime Merino Aran (100% superwash merino, 100 g / 182 yds / 166 m per skein). You need 2 (2, 2) skeins or 214 (237, 277) yds / 195 (216, 253) m of aran-weight yarn (pompom included). The sample was knitted in colorway Direwolf.

NEEDLES:
Adjust the needle size to get the correct gauge for preferred sizing.
US 6 (4 mm) circular needle
US 8 (5 mm) circular needle
